6. GLBT Shabbat – Friday, March 26 at 8:00 p.m. – Our special guest speaker, Rick Glazier, is presently serving his fourth term in the North Carolina General Assembly. Rick experienced discrimination growing up Jewish and has become a champion for marginalized citizens of North Carolina.  He was the primary sponsor and lead proponent of the School Violence Prevention Act, an anti-bullying bill that recently became the first law in our (or any southern) state to protect GLBT citizens.  Rep. Glazier is often mentioned as an up and coming leader in NC government. An Oneg Shabbat, hosted by GSAFE (Gay, Straight Advocates For Education), will follow the service.

7. Brotherhood Sports Breakfast – Sunday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. – Join the Brotherhood for a delicious breakfast with their special guest speaker, Fred Whitfield, President of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA team. This event is open to the entire Jewish community, RSVP required by March 24: Admission - $10, Children under 13 - $5, Paid-up Brotherhood Members – FREE (RSVP still required!). Please mail your check to Brenda Henley at Temple Emanuel (bhenley@tegreensboro.org or 292-7899).

9. A Passover Yizkor Service will be held at the Greene Street Campus on Monday, April 5 at 5:45 p.m. (please note the new time). Jewish tradition mandates that we attend Yizkor services if we have lost a parent, spouse, sibling or child.  Attending Yizkor is the way in which our tradition helps us keep alive the memory of those significant people in our lives who have gone to their eternal rest.
