About the event

Selichot are Jewish poems and prayers of repentance, especially those said in the period leading up to the High Holy Days.

Join us for a movie with a theme of forgiveness and repentance, followed by a brief discussion and then our Selichot Service. During the service, our Torah Covers will be changed to white in preparation for the high holidays. Prior to the film showing, we will have a brief Havdalah service.

Please note: masks are required inside the Temple and you must be fully vaccinated to attend this program.  If you cannot  or prefer not to attend in-person, both Havdalah (~8p) and the Selichot Service (~10p) will be livestreamed to the Temple Facebook page.  (The film will not.)

An "American Pickle" is a 2020 American comedy-drama film based on his 2013 short story "Sell Out". An Eastern European Jewish immigrant gets preserved in a vat of pickles and wakes up a century later in modern-day New York City and attempts to fit in with the assistance of his last remaining descendant.
